April Sheppard, LMFT

Sometimes life feels heavier than expected.

You may be carrying difficult experiences, emotional stress, anxiety, or major life changes while trying to keep moving forward. Maybe you feel overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, unsure of yourself, or simply tired of handling everything alone.

I am passionate about helping teens and adults navigate life’s challenges with greater support, understanding, and confidence. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and showing up honestly, without pressure to have everything figured out.

Clients often come to therapy looking not only for relief, but for a better understanding of themselves, healthier ways of coping, and a clearer path forward. Together, we can work toward processing difficult experiences, strengthening coping skills, and building greater confidence as you move toward healing and personal growth.

About April’s work:

I believe therapy should feel supportive, collaborative, and grounded in what matters most to you.

My work is centered on helping clients navigate emotional overwhelm, difficult experiences, periods of transition, and the challenges that can arise when life feels uncertain or emotionally demanding. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have experience supporting children and teens who have experienced trauma-related challenges.

I also enjoy supporting parents as they navigate the emotional demands of parenting, family stress, and their own healing journeys. Sometimes caring for others can make it difficult to make space for your own experiences, needs, and growth.

My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel supported in developing practical coping tools, processing difficult experiences at your own pace, and building a stronger sense of confidence, resilience, and trust in yourself.

Trauma-informed care at Zenith

All clinicians at Zenith Counseling practice from a trauma-informed foundation. This means care is grounded in safety, consent, collaboration, and an understanding of how past experiences can shape the present.

Clients are thoughtfully matched with clinicians based on their needs, preferences, and goals.
